CAIR, March 4, 2018 - The Minister of Education, Tarek Shawqi, has expressed the government's willingness to implement the know-how of the Japanese education system 'Tokkatsu' in the Egyptian education ecosystem. The step was announced by the Ministry of Education, when a co-operation protocol was signed by Egypt and Japan in May 2017. A statement by the Education Ministry reported that the Minister was on an official visit to Japan, during which he visited Japanese schools and universities, and met senior Japanese education officials. Kamal Mogheith, a researcher at the National Centre for Educational Research and Development (NCERD), told The Egyptian Gazette that the implementation would be with full Japanese technical and financial management at a total cost of US$375 million. Mogheith added that Egypt has 52,000 private and governmental schools. The said that the educational ecosystem has two options: to implement Japanese educational culture in general in co-operation between the Egyptian and Japanese sides, or to establish Japanese-style private schools like the American and British ones. A statement by the Ministry of Education quoted the Japanese Education Minister as saying that the influence of the course on the behaviour of the pupils shows after 10 years The Tokkatsu's course depends on a number of activities that should be practised by the pupils from very early stages. Such activities boost love of the other, efficiency and the exchange of opinions. Minister Shawqi said that his ministry would explain the culture Tokkatsu to Egyptian society including the parents and teachers and society in general.
