CAIRO, MArch 3, 2018 - Egypt exports to Russia rose in 2017 by 35 per cent, Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil said Saturday. The total value of the exports rose in 2017 to $504.6 million, compared to $374.1 million in the previous year, the minister added in a statement. The diversity of Egyptian goods, the minister said, contributed to the aforementioned increase in this very important market. Qabil's statement about the figures of exports to the Russian market cited information included in a report by the Egyptian Trade Representation Office in Russian capital Moscow. He said the fact that Egyptian exports to this market exceeded half a billion dollars would open the door for a major qualitative leap in trade relations with Russia in general. The free trade agreement with the Eurasian Union, the minister said, would contribute to doubling the value of Egyptian exports to the markets of this economic grouping. He said Egyptian goods also had a competitive edge in these markets. The volume of trade between Egypt and Russia is an honest reflection of the strength of economic and political relations between the two states, Qabil said. He said Egyptian exports had a great chance of having their place in the markets of the states northeastern the European Continent, in general, and in the Russian market, particular.
