Egypt's Minister of Oil Sameh Fahmi said yesterday the country's petroleum contracting industry has boomed on the back of the Government's efforts to boost co-operation with leading global companies. Egyptian firms have snatched tenders worth $4.7 billion over the past few years in 14 countries, seven of which are members of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Fahmi said Saudi-based Aramco has awarded Egypt's Enppi a $400 million deal to build 47 oil tanks, on a turnkey basis, with a capacity of 12 million barrels for storing crude and other oil products. Enppi, an Egyptian State-owned firm, assumes full project responsibility for engineering, procurement, construction and project management, performing all tasks from initial planning studies to commissioning of turnkey facilities. Aramco, a Saudi state-owned oil company, is the largest oil corporation in the world with the largest proven crude oil reserves and production. Aramco also operates the world's largest single hydrocarbon network, the Master Gas System.
