The Ministry of Health and Population in Egypt has announced that over 100,000 individuals have accessed the electronic platform of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment since its launch in March 2022. As of March 2025, a total of 100,897 visitors have registered on the platform, marking a significant milestone in the country's efforts to provide accessible mental health services.

This initiative is part of Egypt's broader strategy to offer psychological support, counseling, and addiction treatment services, as well as to educate citizens on how to access mental health consultations through the online platform.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry's official spokesperson, highlighted that users have submitted 23,744 completed electronic questionnaires, while the platform has facilitated over 10,767 virtual treatment sessions for those seeking assistance.

Menen Abdelmaqsoud, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, revealed that the platform's demographic data shows 69% of visitors are female, compared to 31% male. She also noted that 82% of platform users are unmarried, and the majority of visitors are teenagers and young adults. Furthermore, 63% of users are unemployed, while 37% are employed, representing a broad cross-section of society from across Egypt's governorates.

Abdelmaqsoud emphasized that the platform provides free mental health and addiction treatment services to all individuals, both Egyptians and non-Egyptians residing in Egypt. This platform is the first of its kind in the Eastern Mediterranean region, offering a valuable resource for those in need of mental health care. She encouraged all citizens to visit and make use of the various services available via the platform at [mentalhealth.mohp.gov.eg](https://mentalhealth.mohp.gov.eg/mental/web/ar).

In addition, Abdelmaqsoud noted that the General Secretariat regularly holds meetings with therapists working on the platform to address technical challenges, improve service quality, and expand the network of qualified doctors and specialists. The aim is to continuously enhance the platform's services and ensure they meet the growing demand for mental health support.
