Egypt's Foreign Minister heads to Tunisia for political consultations
Published in Daily News Egypt on 07 - 08 - 2023

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry headed to Tunisia on Monday evening to participate in the meeting of the Political Consultation Mechanism at the level of the foreign ministers of Egypt and Tunisia.
Ambassador Ahmed Abou Zeid, the official spokesperson of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Minister Shoukry is scheduled to hold discussions aimed at various files of bilateral relations between Egypt and Tunisia and ways to strengthen them.
He will also consult with his Tunisian counterpart, Nabil Ammar, on a number of regional and international files of mutual interest.
Abou Zeid revealed that the foreign minister will meet with Tunisian President Kais Saied, where he will convey to him an oral message from Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi regarding ways to support and strengthen cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries.
The visit comes within the framework of the qualitative leap that bilateral relations have witnessed in recent years.
The most prominent example of this was the visit of Tunisian President Kais Saied to Egypt in April 2021. This visit represented an important milestone in terms of strengthening the partnership relations between the two brotherly countries and giving them more momentum.
The year 2022 also witnessed the holding of the 17th session of the Joint Higher Committee at the level of the Prime Ministers of the two countries, during which 11 cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed in various fields.
