Al-Sisi, Sullivan discuss US-Egypt cooperation, Palestinian cause
President stresses importance of resolving Palestinian cause for building peace

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi received the US National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, in Cairo on Wednesday to discuss several issues of bilateral concern, includin a review of the developments of the Palestinian cause.
During the meeting, the president stressed that resolving the Palestinian cause according to international references would impose a new reality and open broad horizons for building peace and building bridges of trust, cooperation, construction and development throughout the Middle East region.
On his part, the US National Security Adviser expressed the high appreciation of the US administration towards the extended Egyptian efforts to establish peace in the region, in addition to its role in the truce between the Palestinian and Israeli sides and the initiatives for the reconstruction of Gaza.
Moreover, the developments of various regional issues were also discussed, as the president affirmed the Egyptian firm position based on the need to strengthen the pillars of countries in crises and strengthen their national institutions, in order to end the suffering of their peoples and preserve their capabilities, as well as help fill the vacuum that allowed terrorist groups to expand and spread.
In the same context, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of combating terrorism and extremist ideology, where Sullivan praised Egypt's efforts in this regard. Both sides agreed on the importance of promoting cooperation between the two sides in this regard during the next stage.
Moreover, the meeting also addressed the developments of the disputed Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), as Al-Sisi stressed Egypt's firm position on the necessity of reaching a legally binding agreement for the process of filling and operating the dam, in a manner that preserves Egyptian water security and achieves the common interests of the three involved countries.
Furthermore, the president requested to convey his greetings to the US President Joe Biden, stressing Egypt's keenness to strengthen and strengthen its extended strategic partnership with the United States, as well as to intensify cooperation and coordination between the two countries at various levels, within the framework of the common interests of the two countries, and to support efforts to restore security and stability in the Middle East In light of the tension and turmoil witnessed.
