President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi followed up on the national agricultural production project titled 'Future of Egypt.'
Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady said that the president was briefed in a ministerial meeting on Sunday on the current and future phases of the project in all aspects.
Al-Sisi also directed to continue work on completing the objectives of this strategic project, which contributes to the creation of thousands of jobs in various disciplines.
Furthermore, it gives a strong impetus to the national agricultural industrialisation system and strengthens the state's strategy to increase the proportion of agricultural land in the republic's geographical area, especially as it is part of the giant 'New Delta' agricultural project.
The president also followed up on the progress of infrastructure and the executive position of a number of other agricultural projects throughout the republic, especially in Beni Suef and Minya, which will in turn add value to the Egyptian food market.
In another meeting on Sunday, Al-Sisi reviewed the executive position of some strategic crops, especially wheat — given the proximity of the local harvest season — and efforts to increase its productivity within the framework of the state's policy on the horizontal expansion of agricultural land, and vertical expansion in the country's wheat quality and quantity using the best types of seeds, modern irrigation means, and agricultural mechanisation.
In this context, the president directed granting an additional supply incentive for the price of domestic wheat for the current agricultural season in order to encourage farmers to supply as much as possible, according to the limits set by the competent authorities.
He also reviewed the operational position of the sugar cane cultivation plants in Kom Ombo and Sa'ida Valley, including agricultural equipment, machinery, and irrigation systems, as well as fertilisers and seeds used in this regard.
Furthermore, the meeting discussed developments regarding the fisheries sector, especially through the establishment of fish feed factories as well as the development of lakes nationwide, especially the lakes of the High Dam, Al-Bardawil, Al-Barlos, and Al-Manzala through the processes of clearing, dredging, removing encroachments, increasing their productivity, and developing their booby traps.
Al-Sisi also directed that all the necessary financial resources be provided for the construction of fish hatcheries at the highest level in order to increase production from fish farms while preventing overfishing with the aim of contributing to strengthening the system and maximising Egypt's stock of fish.
Furthermore, the president was briefed on the efforts to develop livestock country-wide, especially through the National Veal project, the development of dairy collection centres, the improvement of strains, as well as the provision of advanced veterinary care through veterinary convoys.
In this regard, he directed the expansion of the supply of high-yield beef and dairy strains, which have a direct economic benefit for the benefit of breeders, in addition to their contribution to supporting the production of meat and dairy for the local market and to strengthening the relevant food industries.
