Two students in Minya and Alexandria governorates have been arrested after leaking parts of second foreign language exam papers in the Thanaweyya Amma (high-school leaving) exams.
However, the Central Operations Room of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education confirmed that the photos circulated before the start of the second language exams are fake.
On Monday, students studying in the scientific and mathematical divisions of the Thanaweyya Amma, attended the second language exams, including French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Chinese languages.
The majority of students said that the second language exam was easy, especially the French language exam, while some students complained about the German language exam.
The Thanaweyya Amma exams started on Saturday amid strict precautionary measures against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. They are also being held inside secured committees, whilst being monitored by cameras inside schools. This year's high school exams are taking place using the Babel sheet system.
The Ministry of Education and Technical Education has also confirmed that the correction of the exams will take place electronically, with the results to be announced 10 days after the end of exams on 2 August.
In a related context, Ayman Mohsab, a member of the House of Representatives, submitted a request to Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawky to present a briefing on the difficulty of the Arabic language exam.
Mohsab said that many students have submitted complaints about the Arabic language exam, as it included a number of questions with more than one possible answer in the multiple choice section. This was in addition to there being a number of difficult questions on the paper.
