Egypt's General Authority for Healthcare (GAH) and Ibnsina Pharma signed a cooperation protocol, on Sunday, that will see the latter provide the authority with support for plans to digitalise its health services.
These services are available in hospitals and health centres that serve the country's universal healthcare programme.
The protocol includes cooperation in digitalising the GAH's supply chain, including warehouses, in addition to developing applications that can provide health consultation virtually. This comes alongside other initiatives that will add efficiency in the implementation of the Universal Healthcare System so that it is equivalent to international standards.
The protocol is part of the GAH's efforts to develop, upgrade, and regulate healthcare service providers and supervise the healthcare services provided to Egyptian citizens using digital solutions. It falls as part of the directives issued by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
Ahmed El-Sobky, GAH Chairperson and Director of the Universal Health Insurance Project, said, "Digital transformation is the future of healthcare services in Egypt, and integration and cooperation between different healthcare disciplines while putting patient interest as a first priority is the key for a better patient experience and better results."
He added, "Cooperation with Ibnsina Pharma, one of the leading pharma distributors in Egypt, indicates the support provided by the private sector to ensure the successful implementation of the Universal Health Insurance Project, which is considered a milestone in improving the health system in Egypt."
Mohsen Mahgoub, Managing Director of Ibnsina Pharma, said that his company is excited to sign this protocol with the GAH as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR). This aims to provide support to the state efforts to implement the Universal Health Insurance Project, which was launched by President Al-Sisi in 2019.
He added that the project aims to establish a strong health system in Egypt, as part of the country's Vision 2030 for the healthcare sector.
