The Mummies Hall at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (MEC) in Fustat will start to receive visitors, on Sunday, to mark World Heritage Day.
The move comes 10 days after the museum received the royal mummies in a majestic parade. The preparations to transfer the mummies into the hall have been completed, with all the mummies now placed in display boxes.
Enas Jaafar, Executive Vice President of the NMEC, said that most of the mummies' coffins have also been installed in the hall. Work is also being completed to install the rest of the coffins and artefacts belonging to the Pharaohs Amenhotep II and Thutmose IV.
Jaafar added that all the archaeologists are working on putting the final touches to the royal artefacts, in preparation for receiving visitors on Sunday.
She said that since their arrival at the NMEC, the restoration team took a number of these mummies from their nitrogen capsules, which were specially constructed for the parade.
The mummies were then prepared for the new exhibition environment in the museum, according to the scientific methods used.
Tickets to the museum include a visit to the Mummies Hall and the central display hall, with a fixed price for the Egyptian visitor of EGP 60, and EGP 30 for Egyptian students. For foreign visitors, tickets will cost EGP 200 and for foreign students EGP 100.
