Cleopatra Hospitals, Nahda University sign EGP 7.4m MoU for joint scholarship programme
Programme lasts for five years from 2020/2021 academic year
Published in Daily News Egypt on 11 - 04 - 2021

Cleopatra Hospitals Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nahda University in Beni Suef (NUB), for the launch of a joint scholarship programme for eight NUB medicine students.
The total cost of the MoU stands at EGP 7.4m of funding over the programme's five years period from the 2020/2021 academic year.
Cleopatra's contribution in this programme amounts to EGP 5.032m over five years, covering 68% of the tuition, while 10% co-payment will be paid by the awarded students. This initiative is part of Cleopatra's efforts in investing in education and supporting young cadres.
Commenting on this partnership, Cleopatra said that this valuable cooperation with Nahda University aims to bring to the market a new capable generation armed with high-level education and practical experience through the pioneering NUB's Faculty of Medicine. It is also fundamental to cater for the needs of students in Upper Egypt governorates, which is in dire need of support.
NUB will contribute with a 22% basic tuition fee discount amounting to EGP 1.628m over five years as well as the waiver of all extra fees and annual increases applied on students.
The partnership with Cleopatra will provide talented and bright students the opportunity to enroll in NUB's Faculty of Medicine and lead the way with a new generation of professionals and healthcare practitioners.
NUB has been exerting efforts in developing the Faculty of Medicine in collaboration with the Medical University of Vienna International (MUVI) to provide the latest educational system.
A joint committee comprising members of Cleopatra and NUB will be formulated for the supervision and selection of awarded students according to the pre-set eligibility criteria. Preference will be given to students who are graduates of Egyptian Thannaweyya Amma (high school leaving) exams in the 2019/2020 academic year, with a minimum score of 97%. They will come from schools in Upper Egypt, as the programme aims to promote medical education and provide financial support to the less developed areas in Upper Egypt.
The joint medical scholarship programme will be "need-based" for students whose financial situation requires support to enroll in the NUB Faculty of Medicine. Applicants must submit a social status report, proof of family income, a financial need letter explaining the family financial situation.
