Al-Ahram Beverages supports Environment Ministry's plastic waste management initiative
Company lends support to official drive on occasion of Egyptian Day for Recycling
Published in Daily News Egypt on 29 - 03 - 2021

Egypt's Ministry of Environment has invited Al-Ahram Beverages Company to participate in signing the pact for plastic waste management and recycling to create a real circular economy for plastics.
The move comes within the framework of the Ministry's efforts, through the initiative, to manage and reduce plastic waste in Egypt.
The company extended its thanks and support to the Ministry of Environment, under the leadership of its minister Yasmine Fouad, for their invitation to the signing ceremony, which included many of the major Egyptian and International companies.
Hans Essaadi, Managing Director of Al-Ahram Beverages Company, said, "We are proud to be part of this initiative and to work closely with the Egyptian Government, represented by the Ministry of Environment, to achieve sustainable development and protect the environment in which we live."
"Carbon footprint and pollution form a great danger to the whole world and being part of this pact today is an integral part of our sustainability strategy," he added, "We strongly believe in the need for all stakeholders to come together to ensure the plastic issue is tackled and resolved."
Essaadi also said that the company continually strives to achieve high rates of efficiency when using natural resources, and when managing waste across all stages of its production.
With regards to plastic and as an environmentally responsible company, the company extends this to beyond its sales, which forms an essential pillar of its Global Brewing a Better World strategy towards sustainable development.
It is worth mentioning that Al-Ahram Beverages Company has adopted a clear strategy to preserve the environment. One of its most important projects is also water preservation, since the company has previously allocated more than EGP 5m since 2015 to participate in several projects that preserve water.
This also entails conserving its use and reducing waste, and so on, in cooperation with governmental institutions, civil society organisations, and a number of research centres.
This preamble is part of the Ministry of Environment's initiative to get rid of plastic materials that cause harm to the environment and turn them into frequently used materials.
The aim is to raise awareness in the community about issues related to plastic and its dangers, as well as the cooperation of all companies and organisations with different platforms.
This cooperation aims to work on finding radical solutions to plastic pollution, and stimulate the innovation of new solutions to recycle plastic and continue its presence in the economic cycle. This will help minimise its waste, in order to create a world free from plastic pollution. This achieves the target of protecting the Egyptian and global environment to create a strong recycling system that we are proud to be a part of.
