Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi discussed with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron joint cooperation against the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), according to Egypt's presidency spokesperson Bassam Rady on Sunday. Included in the discussions were a range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The exchange of visions and views on some regional files of common concern were also on the discussions table, topped by the follow-up on developments in Libya. The leaders also discussed cooperation at the African level based on their recent discussion at the mini-African summit held on 3 April, which were held via teleconference. The mini-summit, which President Macron attended alongside Al-Sisi and other regional leaders, aimed to bolster African capabilities through the role of international partners. The The summit follows up on outcomes from the 26 March pan-African summit dealing with the repercussions of the coronavirus on Africa. It also sought to determine the continent's priorities in combating the virus in coordination with international partners. Private and business sector contributions have been urged, to support African Union (AU) continent-wide efforts against the further spread of the coronavirus.
