Al-Sisi welcomes consensus between government of South Sudan and opposition
The South Sudanese government formed on Saturday a national unity government to mark the end of the over the six-year civil war

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi welcomed the recent agreement between South Sudan President Salva Kiir and opposition leader Riek Machar to form a government of national unity as part of implementing the decisions of the peace agreement.
Al-Sisi stressed, during a phone call with his South Sudan counterpart, the importance of work by all parties concerned to continue to implement the benefits of the agreement.
The president also stressed the depth of relations that bring the two countries together, and Egypt's keenness to continue providing various forms of support South Sudan and to the efforts making peace and political stability.
Kiir expressed his appreciation for his role and the efforts made by Egypt in supporting and stabilizing the situation in South Sudan, within the framework of Egypt's active role at the regional and continental levels.
He also said that South Sudan appreciates what the two brotherly countries have from historical ties, affirming South Sudan's keenness to continue to promote various Aspects of joint cooperation with Egypt during the coming period.
The call also witnessed discussions on some issues of bilateral relations between the two countries in a number of fields, as well as an exchange of views on the developments of a number of regional files of common interest.
The South Sudanese government on Saturday formed a government of national unity to mark the end of the over six years protracted civil war in the world's youngest state which gained its independence in January 2011 from Sudan.
The government of national unity recently brought back opposition leader Machar as the nation's first vice president, the position he held until his dismissal by Kiir in 2013 when he was accused of coup plot alongside several cabinet members of Kiir.
