Jordan stands with Egypt to preserve its water security
Egypt describes Ethiopia's statements as ‘inappropriate' and ‘undiplomatic'

Jordan's King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein asserted on Sunday his country's solidarity with Egypt regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GRED) crisis, saying that Amman will stand with Egypt to preserve its rights to the Nile River and ensure its water security.
It came during Egypt's Minister of Foreign Sameh Shoukry's visit to Jordan on Sunday in which he met King Abdullah and discussed the latest GERD developments.
During the meeting, Shoukry conveyed President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi's appreciation for Jordan's support of Egypt in the Arab League's (AL) last week meeting regarding the GERD.
The meeting also tackled many regional issues, especially the Palestinian cause.
Shoukry started an Arab tour in Jordan, that will include also Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and the UAE.
The 153rd regular session of the AL at the ministerial level issued a resolution on GERD, that Egypt prepared and tabled at the council, aiming at decreasing tensions between Egypt and Ethiopia over the disputed GERD.
The AL's resolution showed solidarity with Egypt and Sudan in protecting their historical rights of the Nile River water and refused any unilateral measures that might be taken by Addis Ababa regarding the GERD on the Blue Nile. However, Sudan had expressed its "reservations" over the resolution and asked to remove its name from it. Ethiopia later announced its rejection of the resolution.
