Schneider Electric's Badr plant for electricity distribution panels increased its capacity by 110%, and the company targets further rise next year.
Vice Chairperson of Schneider Electric Egypt, Sherif Abdel Fattah, said increasing production capacity of the plant is part of the Egyptian government's plan to expand in manufacturing high-quality products in Egypt as well as increasing the proportion of local component in manufacturing.
The local component in Schneider Electric's products ranges between 40-60%. The company produces low and medium voltage electricity distribution panels, with €20m investments in Egypt.
Abdel Fattah explained that the company seeks to implement many projects during the coming period, including Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital, as well as negotiating the implementation of projects in the telecommunications and electricity sectors.
Schneider Electric organised a visit for the top secondary school students in 2019 to the company's regional factory headquarters in Badr Industrial City.
The students were accompanied by company officials to learn about the production stages of the various products offered by the factory, as well as the latest technologies used in all stages of manufacturing, which provide integrated solutions in the field of energy management, as well as the energy loss reduction system of Schneider Electric and workflow management, in addition to the safety and quality procedures within the factory.
Walid Sheta, regional head of Schneider Electric Egypt, North Africa, and the Levant, said the company always seeks to encourage outstanding students through a number of activities it organises to educate and train students at various stages of education, through summer training programmes for students of engineering and business schools.
He added that the company seeks to develop the skills of outstanding students and provide them with the latest technology in the world by training Egyptian engineers on the requirements of smart cities.
Furthermore, Sheta referred to the launch of the Energy University, one of Schneider Electric's most significant achievements, an educational portal offering more than 200 free courses in energy management and automation.
