Relative movement in car prices in early August

The car market has witnessed relative movements in prices of cars in early August, as the increases ranged between EGP 1,000 to EGP 45,000. GB Auto, the agent of Chery, Hyundai, and Geely, increased the prices of some of its models by EGP 1,000. BMW saw the greatest increase, by EGP 45,000 on its 340I model. These prices are compared to the prices of early July.
Some of the most prominent brands whose prices saw increases where Chevrolet, Renault, Chery, Hyundai, and BMW.
The car market saw a decision to increase the prices of fuel in early July after predictions by car pages on social media that the upcoming period would witness an increase in car prices.
The most prominent companies that kept their prices the same since last month were Mercedes, Opel, Chevrolet, BMW, Toyota, Renault, Mitsubishi, and Ford.
Mercedes-Benz keeps prices of cars same for fourth month in a row
German Mercedes-Benz has kept the prices of April the same as in May, June, July, and August.
Mercedes-Benz had previously increased the prices of all its models in the local market last month, to range between from EGP 20,000 to EGP 40,000.
The increase came after the prices of all the models remained fixed for six months as Mercedes-Benz decided to accommodate the price leaps that followed the flotation decision.
Opel without price changes
German Opel has kept the prices of June's deliveries the same in July and August.
Opel has increased the price of its Cascada model and New Insignia by EGP 10,000 and EGP 8,000, respectively. The price of the former reached EGP 680,000 and the latter EGP 538,000.
Chevrolet changes its price policies
Chevrolet has applied increases to four of its models: Aveo, Optra, Lanos, and N300. The Aveo FL increased by EGP 4,000 to take its price to EGP 210,000.
As for the Lanos, it has recorded an increase of EGP 4,000, taking its price to EGP 166,900. The price of the Optra 5 Full option reached EGP 223,000 and the Optra High Line reached EGP 235,000, while the N300 increased by EGP 16,000 to EGP 185,100.
Chevrolet had previously increased the prices of the Aveo to reach EGP 192,800 and kept the prices of June the same in July.
Nissan keeps prices fixed same as last month
Japanese Nissan has kept the prices of its cars the same since July, for this month.
Early last month, Nissan added EGP 2,000 to the price of its New Sunny models, making the price of the first category EGP 215,000, the second EGP 227,000, and the third EGP 237,000. It has also increased the price of Sentra to EGP 299,000.
Ford keeps its prices same for three consecutive months
Ford has kept the prices of June the same for the deliveries of June, July, and August. Ford previously added EGP 10,000 to the models of Fusion and Koga.
BMW without changes for fifth month in a row
German BMW has changed the price of its 340I model by EGP 45,000, taking its price to EGP 1.025m, while the prices of the rest of its models remained the same since February, making the prices fixed for the fifth month in a row.
The German brand increased the prices of its X models in February by adding EGP 90,000 to the price of the X1, taking it to EGP 850,000, and adding EGP 25,000 to the price of the X3, taking its price to EGP 1.05m. The company also increased the price of the X4 to EGP 1.425m, and it added EGP 60,000 to the price of the X5, taking its price to EGP 1.85m. It also added EGP 50,000 to the price of the X6, taking its price to EGP 3.15m.
Toyota continues to stabilise its prices
Toyota has kept the prices of February the same in August, making its prices stable for the sixth month in a row.
Since February, the company has added a slight increase of EGP 3,000 to its Corolla models, taking their prices to EGP 355,000 in the highest category, while the price of January remained the same for the rest of its models up until now.
Renault adds EGP 3,000 to prices of three models
French Renault has increased the price of the Logan by EGP 3,000, taking it to EGP 190,000, and the price of the Sandero to EGP 226,000, as well as the Stepway to EGP 255,000.
Renault has kept the prices of the deliveries for June the same in July.
Mitsubishi without price changes
Mitsubishi has kept the prices of the deliveries of June the same in July and August.
The prices of Mitsubishi have remained fixed for all its models last month, except for the new Eclipse, which increased by EGP 10,000 during the first month it was launched in the Egyptian market, making the first category record EGP 430,000 and the higher category EGP 485,000.
Kia goes back to price stability
Kia has returned to a state of stability in its prices in August, keeping the price of July the same.
Kia changed the prices of the Cerato and Sportage last month after a state of stability for seven consecutive months, as Kia increased the price of the Cerato by EGP 20,000, recording EGP 320,000, while the prices of the Sportage were reduced by EGP 20,000, taking the price of the car to EGP 450,000 in the first category and EGP 500,000 in the second category.
Emgrand records EGP 191,000
Chinese Geely has kept the prices of its Emgrand 7 and Emgrand X7 models the same as last month, standing at EGP 191,000 for the former and EGP 315,000 for the latter.
The Geely Emgrand recorded an increase of EGP 2,000, taking the price of the model to EGP 191,000.
Chery increases price of Envy and Tiggo
Chinese Chery has added EGP 1,000 to the price of the Envy and Tiggo, making the first record EGP 170,000 and the second EGP 247,000.
GB Auto had increased the price of the Envy and Tiggo last month, taking their prices to EGP 169,000 and EGP 246,000, respectively.
Hyundai increases prices of five models
GB Auto increased the prices of five of its models in August, from EGP 1,000 to EGP 38,000.
The first category of Verna recorded an increase of EGP 1,000, taking the price of the car to EGP 181,500. The same increase was applied to the automatic category, taking its price to EGP 213,500. The Elantra AD added EGP 2,000 to the car, taking its price to EGP 317,900.
It has also added EGP 38,000 to the full-loaded class of Tuscan, taking its price to EGP 580,000, and EGP 1,600 to the Accent, making it record EGP 263,500.
Last month, Hyundai added EGP 2,500 to the price of the Verna, making its price start at EGP 180,500. Additionally, EGP 3,000 was added to the price of the Elantra AD, recording EGP 315,000 for the first category, in addition to EGP 2,000 to the Elantra HD, starting from EGP 255,900.
Moreover, EGP 3,000 was added to the Accent, making its price start at EGP 261,900.
