Egypt signs security agreements with China, as Al-Sisi holds bilateral meetings with Chinese, Russian, Indian, South African counterparts
Egypt supports "Road and Belt" initiative to retrieve ties between east and west

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping witnessed the signing of a security agreement between the Egyptian Ministry of Interior and the Chinese Ministry of General Security, aside of the BRICS summit in Xiamen in China on Tuesday, presidency spokesperson Alaa Youssef said in a statement.
The two leaders also witnessed the signing of a technical and economic cooperation agreement, as China will allocate Yuan 300 million for implementing the Egyptian Satellite Misr Sat 2, in addition to a memorandum of understanding between Egypt's Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation and China's Ministry of Trade for implementing the electric train which is supposed to link Al-Salam city with 10th of Ramadan city and Belbeis, according to the statement.
According to Youssef, Xi Jinping praised the positive results of of the Egyptian efforts in development and restoring stability, and Egypt's participation in the Road and Belt initiative. He also stressed his country's support for Egypt's role regionally and internationally.
Al-Sisi also met with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi, who praised the Egyptian efforts in development and encouraging investment that attracted Indian companies to invest in Egypt by about USD 3bn. He also stressed the necessity of activating the common business council and increasing trade exchange. The two leaders agreed to hold the common ministerial committee to arrange Modi's upcoming visit to Egypt, according to the statement.
Al-Sisi also discussed bilateral relations with his South African President Jacob Zuma.
On Monday, Al-Sisi met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, who praised his country's ties with Egypt especially the increasing of trade exchange by 14%. During the meeting Al-Sisi asserted Egypt's keenness on boosting relations with Russia, and invited Putin to attend the establishing of Al-Dabaa nuclear plant, the invitation which was welcomed by the Russian president, the statement read.
In his speech in the BRICS session named "Dialogue of Emerging Market and Developing Countries", Al-Sisi said that "our countries would not reach the economic rates of the developed countries without a fair global economic system, respects rules and boosts the participation of developing countries,".
"The developing countries have the right to work in accordance with its national priorities and private conditions, without being criticised from the international community for its implementation of the 2030 agenda," Al-Sisi said. "Practically, we suggest forming a group of communication includes countries participating in this forum to put alternatives for the 17 goals of the sustainable development agenda, in policies and applications, now and in the future," he added.
The president asserted Egypt's support for the Chinese "Road and Belt" initiative to retrieve cultural and commercial ties between the east and the west across North Africa where Suez Canal is the heart of the region, and he also expressed Egypt's readiness to cooperate with the BRICS countries in Africa.
