Egypt asks Interpol to arrest three Israelis charged with espionage
Published in Daily News Egypt on 06 - 02 - 2007

CAIRO: Egypt asked the international police organization to arrest three Israelis it accuses of being part of a spy ring, a judicial official said Monday.
Egypt s state security prosecutor on Saturday charged a 26-year-old Egyptian and three Israelis with spying for Israel and harming national interests.
Authorities arrested Mohammed al-Attar, a former student at Al-Azhar University, on Jan. 1 after returning to Cairo from abroad.
The three Israelis remain at large, and Egypt s prosecutor general has instructed the Interior Ministry to request Interpol to arrest them, said the judicial official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not allowed to speak to the media.
The three Israelis were identified by Egypt s state news agency, Mena, as Daniel Levi, Kemal Kosba and Tuncay Bubay.
Kosba and Bubay also hold dual Turkish citizenship, Mena has said. Israeli authorities have denied the allegations.
Al-Attar allegedly left Egypt in 2001 for Turkey, where he met the three Israelis who allegedly recruited him to collect information about Egyptians and other Arabs living in Turkey and Canada in return for money, officials have said.
Al-Attar was then allegedly ordered by the Israelis to move to Canada in 2003 to collect information about Egyptians and Arabs living in Canada, according to authorities.
