Company will look into implementation procedures with the government within two weeks and meet top exporters, says Kesis

Hany Kesis, former chairperson of Egyptian-American Business Council, said that a number of Egyptian companies began negotiations with international e-commerce company Amazon to distribute its products.
He told Daily News Egypt that the negotiations have reached advanced levels, where Amazon noted it will contact the Egyptian government to establish a logistics centre in Egypt soon.
He added that a delegation from Amazon is set to visit Cairo within 2-3 weeks to discuss the procedures and choose the most appropriate location.
He noted that Amazon officials will meet a large number of companies interested in dealing with them, as well as a number of government officials, including head of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), Mohamed Khodeir.
Kesis said that the company is interested in contracting with three Egyptian exporters in several industries to distribute their products in the American and European markets, as long as they match the standards.
For the case that the agreement with the government is being completed, he predicts Egyptian exports through Amazon to amount to $1bn in the first phase.
Moreover, Kesis noted that his company, Mintra Paper Industries, agreed with Amazon to distribute its products to the American and European markets.
In previous remarks, Kesis had noted that Mintra intends to establish a new furniture factory with investments of $40m in 2017.
Amazon is an American company specialising in e-commerce. It was established in 1994 and launched on the internet in 1995.
