The Egyptian British Business Council (EBBC) will hold its biannual meeting in London on Tuesday July 3. The EBBC - an independent bilateral body composed of senior business figures from the UK and Egypt - feeds the views of the business community into both governments. The meeting will discuss how to further stimulate trade and investment links between Egypt and the UK, and there will be a strong focus on skills development. The meeting will incorporate financial services roundtable sessions chaired by Sir David Brewer, formerly Lord Mayor of the City of London. Ahead of the meeting, British Ambassador Sir Derek Plumbly said, "I am proud to say that Britain is still the largest non-Arab investor in Egypt, with cumulative investments of approximately $20 billion. The senior status of the EBBC board members reflects the importance and strength of the business relationship between our two countries. In 2006, bilateral trade in goods between the UK and Egypt exceeded approximately 1.2 billion English pounds. Egyptian exports to the UK increased by 81 percent last year to reach 677 million English pounds.
