CAIRO: Egyptian exports of pharmaceuticals to the Ukraine increased remarkably over the first ten months of 2006, growing up nearly 70 percent compared with a year earlier. Ukraine s ambassador to Egypt Yevhen Mykytenko said the total value of Egyptian pharmaceuticals exports to the Ukraine amounted to $35 million over the first ten months of last year compared with $30 million over the whole of 2005. Other Egyptian exports to Ukraine include rice, citrus products, vegetables, plastic products and ceramics. Meanwhile, Egyptian imports from the Ukraine declined to $710 million in 2006 compared with $800 million a year ago. Egypt imports chemical products, minerals, building materials, beans and spare parts from the Ukraine. Ukraine s Ambassador to Cairo said the fifth round of the Egyptian-Ukrainian Economic Cooperation Joint-Committee is expected to be launched in Kyiv in April 2007. The Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Fayza Abul Naga will lead the Egyptian team of negotiators in the committee. The Ukrainian ambassador said the two countries are expected to seal two agreements for economic and scientific cooperation during the upcoming round.
