Al-Sisi calls for an intensive security presence all over Egypt during meeting with high-ranking officials
The president also met with a number of Egyptian scholars to discuss bolstering education

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi held on Saturday morning a meeting with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, Minister of Defence Sedki Sobhi, Foreign Minister Samih Shoukry, and the head of Al-Mukhabarat (Egyptian intelligence), according to a statement issued by the presidency.
According to the statement, the meeting discussed security conditions in Egypt and efforts made by the government to secure important facilities. Al-Sisi spoke about the need to intensify the security presence in public parks and vital places across Egypt. The meeting also touched on current economic conditions and the recent economic reforms carried out by the government.
"President Al-Sisi spoke about the importance of continuing governmental efforts aimed at easing the burden on living conditions imposed on people in dire need and those who are classified as being low-income citizens," the statement read.
The meeting discussed all exerted efforts and measures executed by the current government to continue providing basic food commodities in markets and maintaining prices which are reasonable to the citizens.
Meanwhile, Al-Sisi met with a number of Egyptian scholars Saturday afternoon. The scholars had participated in a conference titled Egypt Can, which was held on 14 and 15 December in the Red Sea city of Hurghada.
Following their participation in the conference, nearly 27 scholars met with the president to review the results and recommendations from the conference on how best to execute them, according to the state-run newspaper Akhbar Al-Youm.
The conference discussed ways to enhance scientific research in Egypt and plans to develop higher education by applying the modern ways of learning.
These recommendations included expanding the hospital and the medical centre administrated by renowned surgeon Magdi Yacoub. This development will mainly depend on generating electricity through the use of solar energy.
Meanwhile, the conference emphasised the necessity of supporting the Egyptian Satellite Agency through the use of scholars specialised in satellite research, whether inside Egypt or outside it.
Moreover, the recommendations stipulated the establishment of a national programme to increase the awareness on the modality of dealing with crises and disasters.
Also the recommendations included the establishment of a national authority affiliated to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Learning to adopt policies that aim to help young innovators.
