All Zaki needs is one strike, says Bruce
Published in Daily News Egypt on 13 - 03 - 2009

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce believes that one goal would be enough for Amr Zaki to rediscover his goal-scoring form.
The Egyptian international took the Premiership by storm earlier in the season, scoring ten goals for Wigan since joining the club on loan move from Zamalek in the summer.
However, all Zaki s goals came during the league s first term, as the 25-year-old has been suffering from a goal drought since the turn of the year.
Zaki needs just one goal to get him going, Bruce told the Evening Post.
If a goal bounces in off Zaki s backside, he would probably be capable of getting another six goals before the end of the season.
Zaki s last three Premiership goals came from the spot-kick, and Bruce stressed that the former Mansoura man needs to find the net from open play in order to regain his confidence.
A big problem is that Zaki hasn t scored from open play since October 18. He is a bit of a one-off, he can either be on a real high or feeling really down, he needs to find equilibrium.
Bruce added his belief that Zaki may be excused as the Premiership is becoming a tougher place for strikers to score, as most teams have top class defenders within their ranks.
When you look at the table from eighth downwards, scoring goals is a problem for a lot of teams, said the ex-Manchester United skipper.
The defenders in this league are all quick, strong, big and very good, the hardest thing is finding a way past them.
Bruce considered that despite his recent lack of goals, Zaki is still having a very successful campaign with the Latics.
He might not have scored for all these months, but he s still joint fourth highest scorer in the Premier League.
Look at the names at the top of the leader board - Nicolas Anelka, Robinho, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gabriel Agbonlahor, that is how hard it is.
Chelsea s Anelka scored 16 goals so far in the season, followed by Ronaldo with 12 and Robinho with 11. Zaki and Agbonlahor are joint tenth on 10 with Frank Lampard and Kevin Davies.
