The Russian parties demanded the provision of these devices, and that airports be ready for inspection, says EHCAAN chairperson

The Armed Forces Arming Authority has begun negotiations to obtain biometric devices responsible for the entry and exit of airport employees.
Ismail Aboul Ezz, chairperson of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHCAAN), said that provision of biometric devices was assigned to the Armed Forces Arming Authority. The provision of biometric devices was one of the Russian demands to enhance security in airports.
He told Daily News Egypt that contracting with an international company has been completed in order to obtain these devices.
The provision of these devices was one of Russia's demands, and it will be informed of the content of the contract and the devices contracted upon, he added.
Egypt awaits a Russian delegation to inspect and review security procedures in Egyptian airports with the Egyptian government seeking to resume Russian flights to Egypt.
Russia suspended all its flights to Egypt after the Metrojet incident in October, which killed all 224 passengers and crew on board.
Aviation Minister Sherif Fathiy revealed in his interview with Daily News Egypt that the Russian parties demanded the provision of surveillance devices to monitor the entry and exit of employees and workers in airports.
Aboul Ezz noted that Egyptian airports are ready for any inspections carried out by the Russian delegation, as all security measures were taken into consideration as were the requests made by inspection committees from all countries.
The airport sector has finished installing land surveillance radar cameras in all Egyptian airports. The cameras are able to detect explosives and drugs at a range of 3km. They are installed in the roads leading to airports, as well as inside and outside departure and arrival halls, and along airstrips.
The total cost of the cameras in Sharm El-Sheikh airport reached EGP 45m, and in Cairo airport EGP 90m. They will soon be installed in Hurghada airport, Borg El-Arab airport, and the airports in Luxor and Aswan.
Modern detection devices are used at the entrances of airports and inside arrival halls.
