The Egyptian National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) has assigned all the consultative works of the third phase of Cairo Metro's third line to Systra Consulting. The assignment was decided after the acceptance of a technical financial offer made by the bureau, according to an official in the authority. The total value of the accepted offer reached EGP 576m. It was rated at 91.9%, whereas the financial offer made by Dar Al-Handasa, worth EGP 608m, was rejected, with a rating of 87.12%, according to the official. NAT has approved an Egyptian-Japanese consultant coalition to implement the first phase of the metro's fourth line: the Haram line. The coalition consists of five companies: Oriental Consultants, Nippon Civic, Nippon Quoi, EHAF, and ACE. The total cost of the consultancy works as well as supervision works is estimated at EGP 976m. In July, NAT assigned the implementation of the rail works of the third line's third phase to the TSO-ORC-ETF association. NAT has chosen the winning company over its French opponent, Colas Rail, after accepting the financial offer from the former. NAT plans to implement six new metro lines, with construction work expected to be completed by 2032 in order to connect all parts of Greater Cairo. Actual implementation works of the fourth line began in January. The metro receives more than four million commuters daily on the two main lines "Marg-Helwan" and "Mounib-Shoubra", in addition to the finished part of the third line "Ataba-Al Ahram", which includes about nine stations.
