Education ministry cancels another Thanaweya Amma exam, following leak
Published in Daily News Egypt on 26 - 06 - 2016

The Ministry of Education decided to cancel part of the thanaweya amma mathematics exam on Sunday after reports of online leaks, state-run news agency MENA said. However, this decision comes after students had already sat for the exam earlier in the morning.
The ministry also decided to postpone the exam dates of several other subjects, including geology, history, mathematics, and geometry.
Despite ongoing arrests, another thanaweya amma secondary school exam was leaked to students by the Facebook page Revolution against Corrupt Education and others.
A component of the mathematics exam and its corresponding answers were circulated on social media pages at dawn on Sunday, but they had to be purchased at the price of EGP 100, to be paid in the form of phone credit.
Secondary school students Dina Ashraf and Mohamed Abuelkhair told Daily News Egypt that the case of the leaked exam was similar to the exam they took on Sunday morning.
Daily News Egypt attempted to contact the spokesperson for the Ministry of Education and the head of the Central Administration for Secondary Education, but they were not available for comment. However, sources in the Ministry of Education confirmed Sunday's exam had been leaked, according to reports by state-run Al-Ahram newspaper.
Security forces have arrested at least 20 people on charges of administrating pages that are accused of leaking exams.
Students have claimed that a number of exams had been leaked since the exam period began, some of which have been denied by the ministry.
The thanaweya amma exam leaks have put the Ministry of Education under increased pressure, raising more and more questions about Egypt's education system, which many are calling to reform.
Members of parliament have held Minister of Education El-Helaly El-Sherbiny directly responsible for the leaks and have called for his resignation.
