Shoukry discussed possible outcomes of OIC meeting on Palestine with Indonesian counterpart

Egyptian foreign minister Sameh Shoukry discussed possible outcomes of the meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) with his Indonesian counterpart, Retno Marsudi.
In the Extraordinary Session of the Islamic Summit Conference on the Cause of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Shareef in Jakarta on 6 and 7 March, OIC will address the issue of Jerusalem and Palestinian rights in an attempt to encourage the international community to take actions in favour of Palestine.
Shoukry held a joint press conference with Marsudi to speak about the organisation's plans while Egypt holds the presidency of OIC. "This is an opportunity for countries in OIC to show their solidarity with the Palestinian's plight," Shoukry said.
The meeting comes following increased congestion in Palestinian territories and repeated Israeli violations against Islamic sacred sites, which violate international law, according to foreign ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid.
Despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Arab countries will not forget the people of Palestine, he said. The two-state solution should be promoted during the OIC meeting in addition to raising funds for the Palestinian case.
Shoukry also discussed bilateral relations between Egypt and Indonesia with Marsudi and that Egypt is keen to boost its economic and social relations with Asian countries.
