Armed Forces Engineering Authority to construct roads and bridges in Administrative Capital: Al-Wazir
Armed Forces to build 457,000 housing units for low-income homebuyers in new administrative capital
Published in Daily News Egypt on 15 - 02 - 2016

The Armed Forces Engineering Authority will construct all roads and bridges in addition to a segment of governmental and residential building in the new administrative capital.
Chairman of Engineering Authority Kamel Al-Wazir said the Armed Forces Engineering Authority partnered with the Ministry of Housing to oversee and implement the construction of roads. The Ministry of Housing will begin establishing facilities within the next two months, with the cooperation of Egyptian companies.
The Armed Forces Engineering Authority will construct 457,000 housing units within the framework of a project that will provide housing to low-income homebuyers. Each housing unit will occupy an area of 90-100m.
"We need to mobilise a large workforce to complete such a huge endeavour in such a short timeframe and we definitely need construction workers, blacksmiths, carpenters, and house painters," Al-Wazir said. "We need drivers, labourers, and technicians. We have 22 machines in Port Said with only 12 of them operating due to labour shortage."
The authority, in coordination with 60 national civilian companies, is implementing a project to construct an entire city on Al-Galala hill on an area of 9,000 acres near the Al-Galala Hill motorway.
There is also a plan to provide fresh water to Al-Galala city through the construction of a 150,000m desalination plant. This will serve the tourist resort and Al-Galala city, which will be south of the resort. Seven water stations will be established to raise the water level to 700m above sea level. Another water treatment plant will be established with a capacity to provide 150,000m per day to treat sewage.
The electricity needed for the project will be secured through developing the Ataqa power plant in Suez and the wind farms of Zafarana.
The minister said the construction of the resort will be completed on April 25.
