Head of Parliament to review MP's resignation
Parliament will make its final decision Saturday regarding Seyam's resignation, according to state-run newspaper Al-Ahram

Parliament Secretary General Ahmed Saad Al-Deen said Tuesday that he sent MP Serry Seyam's resignation request to speaker of the house Ali Abdel Aal for a final decision.
Seyam submitted his resignation Monday to Saad Al-Deen, though it should have been initially presented to Abel Aal. He complained that he felt "marginalised" within the parliament and was excluded from attending a joint meeting with a visiting delegation.
The parliament will announce whether or not his resignation is approved on Saturday, according to state-run newspaper Al-Ahram.
According to protocol, the speaker of the house will review the resignation requests after 48 hours and then summon the MP who wants to resign to discuss their reasons. There follows a vote with members in a parliamentary session to decide whether the MP can resign.
Seyam is former chairman of the Court of Cassation and the Higher Council for Judges. He was one of 28 public figures appointed to Egypt's newly-elected parliament by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi in December 2015.
