During June 2015, automotive sales declined by 4% compared to the same period last year. The Automotive Marketing Information Council (AMIC) has estimated last month's sales at 23,900 cars, against 24,900 cars sold in the same period last year, according to sales statistics accredited by the agents. The automotive market performance retreated during Q2 of 2015, as it registered a decline for the third consecutive month in automotive sales and purchase rates, after registering a 3% decline in April and a 14% decline in May compared to the same period last year. The AMIC estimated sales during the first half of 2015 at 138,000 cars, against 133,700 cars during the same period last year, with a 3.2% increase. Chevrolet achieved the most sales during the first half of 2015, with total sales of 138,000 cars, followed by Hyundai, with 22,800 cars. Toyota came in third place with total sales of 13,800 cars, while Nissan came in fourth with a total of 12,500 cars, which is a notable decline from its performance in the same period last year, in which Nissan sold 15,500 cars. In fifth place comes Suzuki with 8,200 cars sold, followed by Kia with 5,800 cars, while in seventh place comes Mitsubishi with 5,600 cars sold, and Renault in eighth place with 5,500 cars. In ninth place is Skoda with sales of 4,110 cars and in tenth place is Geely with 4,100 cars sold, which is a sharp decline from its performance during the same period last year, which was estimates at 7,800 sold cars. According to the AMIC report, imported personal car sales witnessed a 22.4% growth with 58,800 cars sold during the first half of the current year, against 48,000 during the same period in 2014. The sales of local private cars is estimated at about 36,200 units in the first half of 2015, against 44,100 units during the same period last year, marking a 17.9% decline. As for the locally manufactured bus sales, they topped their fully imported counterpart, with 7,200 locally assembled buses sold, against 6,200 buses sold in the first half of 2014, registering a 15.4% increase. On the other hand, imported busses sold 9,500 units, against 8,300 units sold during the same period last year, registering a 14.4% increase. Local trucks sold 20,700 units, against 20,200 last year, registering a 2.7% increase, while the sales of imported trucks declined to 5,400 units, from 6,700 units sold during the same period last year, registering a 19.4% decline.
