Specialised ministerial units to follow up on projects funded through grants and loans: PM
The units aim at removing any obstacles that prevent the execution of projects, says cabinet spokesman

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb has demanded the formation of units specialised in following up on the projects executed through grants and loans in most ministries, according to Cabinet Spokesman Hossam El-Kawish.
El-Kawish said that the units aim at removing any obstacles that prevent the execution of the projects funded through the grants and loans, adding that the units would be directly affiliated to the concerned minister, and would submit a report to the Prime Minister.
"The Prime Minister held a meeting this week, to follow up on the executive situation of the projects executed through funding from grants and loans, in the presence of the Ministers of Electricity, International Cooperation, Transport, and Agriculture, as well as the concerned officials," a cabinet statement said.
Mehleb said the aim of the meeting is to remove all the obstacles in order to work on executing the projects funded through grants and loans promptly. A meeting was recently held with different ministries regarding this issue, and the follow up is being completed with the rest of the ministries.
During the meeting, the Ministries of Electricity, Agriculture, and Transport presented reports on the projects that are being executed through grants and loans, and the executive situation of these projects in each ministry.
El-Kawish stated that the Minister of International Cooperation presented a brief overview regarding the delay of some projects that are funded through the foreign grants and loans. He added that the Prime Minister asked to hold consecutive meetings with the concerned ministers to follow up on the projects, and push them forward.
Officials from the Ministry of Housing similarly presented a report on the projects in the ministry that are executed through funding from grants and loans, as well as what has been spent from the financial resources.
Minister of Housing Mostafa Madbouly presented the obstacles that some of the projects faced, such as the suspension of work in some of them as a result of the incidents the country faced during the periods of security unrest, as well as trespassing on the lands allocated for these projects.
Madbouly asserted that these problems have been resolved after the situation stabilised, and they have begun to speed up the rate of executing the projects.
