Al-Sisi discusses human rights, terrorism with Austrian official
Al-Sisi tells Austrian Federal Minister "civil and political rights need to be enhanced and promoted"

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met Austrian Federal Minister for Europe, Integration, and Foreign Affairs, Sebastian Kurz Thursday, and the two discussed human rights and "combating terrorism".
According to a presidential statement, Al-Sisi "reviewed the overall developments in the region, particularly the proliferation of violence, extremism and terrorism", and discussed the importance of not looking at the events in the region from "a Western perspective".
In addition, Al-Sisi "stressed that civil and political rights need to be enhanced and promoted, adding that human rights are indivisible", the statement read.
Kurz "acknowledged Egypt's efforts to combat terrorism both domestically and internationally". He further stated that "Austria looks forward to supporting and enhancing cooperation with Egypt in the field of counter-terrorism, and demonstrated an understanding of Egypt's positions on human rights issues", according to the statement.
Meanwhile, international and local rights organisations have repeatedly cited the regime's increasing human rights violations over the past two years.
