Georenco, Hareon Solar to establish solar energy station for $75m: Georenco Chairman

€50,000 to train students on devices that measure solar cells in Fayoum and South Valley Universities

German consulting company Georenco and Chinese company Hareon Solar agreed to establish a station for solar energy with a capacity of 50MW and investments amounting to $75m.
Georenco Chairman, Hassan Aboughalma, said Hareon Solar was selected to establish new and renewable energy projects, according to the nutritional rating system. Documents needed for establishing this station, which is planned to be located in Aswan, are still being processed.
The government aims to establish projects generating solar and wind energy, with a capacity of 4,000MW on investments amounting to $7bn. This is part of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy's plan to produce 20% of the total production capacities of new and renewable energy by 2020.
Aboughalma added that the company is training graduates from the Faculties of Engineering in Cairo University, South Valley University, and Fayoum University. The training will instruct students on solar cells measuring devices in order to obtain the Solar Energy Diploma, funded by the European Union (EU) in cooperation with three universities in Greece, Germany and Spain.
He stated that Georenco imported these devices for both Fayoum and South Valley Universities at a cost of €50,000. The training period will last for 12 months, and will see graduates taught how to use measurement devices for sunrays, wind speed, temperature, and humidity.
He revealed that his company is willing to establish a project for sewage treatment in Hurghada at a cost of €200,000. The main aim of the project is to eliminate all factors harmful to public health, protect underground and surface water resources to prevent the spread of diseases, protect livestock water resources, avoid precipitation over water surfaces, and eliminate harm from sewage.
He added that Georenco will investigate water measurements over 24 hours, in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Society and South Valley University. The cost of the project is estimated at €200,000. Georenco and South Valley University will pay €100,000, while Fraunhofer Society and Nolda and Partner will pay the rest.
He explained that equipment, measurement devices, and pilot tests will begin in July, and an agreement was made with one of the hotels in Hurghada to carry out tests, analysis and special measurements in one of the hotel's water-sewage stations.
Aboughalmasaid that the company will study launching a project to produce energy plants through the optimal use of water, in cooperation with a German company and an investor in Upper Egypt, and it will be on an area of 1,500 acres.
The project aims to produce plants that help with the energy production process during the photosynthesis process by utilising sunrays to separate hydrogen from oxygen in water atoms to generate electrons, in order to be used in the formation of sugars that help growth.
Plants are considered one of the most efficient systems that generate 100% clean energy production from solar energy. As such, utilising this system in energy production will raise the efficiency of solar panels, which are currently operating at a capacity ranging from 12% to 17%.
