Bavarian Motor Works (BMW) exhibited its latest 2-series Active Tourer, launched in March, in an exclusive press viewing.
Farid El-Tobgy, Chairman for the Bavarian Auto Group for BMW and MINI in Egypt, introduced the new series, which made its first appearance in March in Automech-Formula, through which the company targets a new segment of customers, especially as the car is an SUV model.
El-Tobgy expected that this new car will improve the company's place in the market, especially as it is one of the most fuel-efficient and eco-friendly cars on the market, compared to similar car models sold in the Egyptian market. A survey conducted after the launch of the car reportedly indicated wide acclaim by all customers.
El-Tobgy said that the first batch of this car was completely sold, proving the car's popularity among customers, as well as the dominance of the Bavarian Auto Group in the Egyptian market.
The interior of the car is very simple and is in line with the features of all the different BMW models, with elegant touches, also featuring additional storage spaces unavailable in any previous model from the company, according to El-Tobgy. Furthermore, the interior features ample space as it is an SUV, he added.
The second category of the car has a 1500 CC engine, with horsepower of 136hp. The car also features an automatic gear box of seven speeds, including one for reverse mode. The car speed reaches 100 km per hour and is equipped with a turbo and a fuel tank of 55 litres. The exterior of the car is characterised by the typical BMW aesthetic design.
