The Islamist Anti-Coup Alliance condemned US Secretary of State John Kerry's Cairo visit to discuss the formation of a military coalition against Islamist group ISIS, in statement Sunday. The alliance accused Kerry's visit of aiming to implicate Egypt in a military coalition that serves "American Zionist interests", with no gains for Egypt. The revolutionary Egyptian people refuse to accept interference by the American government in region in the name of "fighting terrorism", the statement said. "Although the US official was not publicly welcomed, he was met by the representatives of the coup in Egypt." The statement emphasised that the Egyptian people will not permit involvement by the armed forces in what it called an "engineered conflict". The alliance said that the conflict "aims to enhance the existence of Zionist-American entities, break down Egyptian national security and independence". On Saturday, Kerry met with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to discuss regional issues—notably the threat of ISIS as well as methods to rally support for a coalition against the jihadist group. During the visit, Kerry said the only way to defeat ISIS lies in building a broad coalition previously announced by US President Barack Obama. The coalition would support the Iraqi government through providing military support.
