Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with Head of the Arab Parliament Ahmed Mohamed Al-Jarwan to discuss ways to enhance the joint cooperation between Egypt and the Arab Parliament to address the current regional situation. Shoukry said that Egypt's coming parliamentary elections will increase the cooperation between Egypt and the Arab Parliament. Shoukry met with the Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani Tuesday, to discuss regional issues, particularly developments in the Gaza Strip. In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tuesday, Shoukry highlighted continuing Egyptian efforts to resume negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) to reach a new truce. Israel and the PA agreed to an indefinite ceasefire on Tuesday. According to a ministry spokesperson, the meeting included the cooperation between Egypt and OIC to improve the image of Islam abroad. Also during the meeting, discussions took place on disseminating the truth about Islam, which is remotely related to extremism and terrorism. Madani met Monday with the President and Chairman of the Twelfth session of the OIC Summit, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, to discuss issues of mutual interest. Discussions included the ongoing developments in the Middle East and the OIC's efforts at the regional and international level.
