Supply service call centre to be inaugurated Thursday: MCIT

A call centre informing citizens of their monthly quota for supply commodities will be inaugurated Thursday in Smart Village, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) said Wednesday. The new centre will also keep citizens informed of their share in the new bread subsidy system.
"The customer service and call centre receive supply complaints and inquiries and direct them to specialists," the ministry stated, adding, "A hotline shall be dedicated for that purpose."
A day earlier, the supply ministry said a new a new service to send SMS messages will be launched for ration card holders.
The MCIT added that the centre will present information about the Egyptian supply system for the subsidies commodities such as bread and gas.
"The new system aims to activate the State's plan to deliver subsidy to the targeted groups nationwide," the MCIT added.
Following citizen complaints that supply groceries are not selling the ration card food commodities, Minister of Supply Khaled Hanafy asserted Tuesday to continue offering the rations of August until the end of September.
The supply ministry has started applying a new ration card system, which it said prevents the smuggling of items. It also offers citizens better quality products by allowing them access to 20 different products, produced by private companies and the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC).
The new system, allowing ration card holders to buy items at any quantity with an EGP15 state discount from the total cost, entailed a price increase of commodities, said the ministry.
