Joy and defeat for Egypt in CAF Champions League

Cairo sides Al-Zamalek and Al-Ahly experienced different fates in the Confederation of African Football Champions League. The Red Devils suffered a 4-2 aggregate defeat to Libyan side Ahly Benghazi while their local rivals put five past Zambian side Nkana in their second leg tie, after the first-leg finished 0-0.
Both Ismaily and Wadi Degla crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday. Ismaily lost by one goal in their second leg tie with Angolan side Petro Atletico. Wadi Degla's tie with Malian team Djoliba went to penalties with both sides recording 2-0 victories in over the two legs. Despite Wadi Degla's goalkeeper Essam El-Hadari saving two penalties, Djoliba won the shootout 5-4.
Al-Ahly will now play in the Confederation Cup and have drawn Moroccan side Difaa, which will be decided over two legs towards the end of April.
Attention now turns to the domestic league where Al-Ahly will look to bounce back from their Champions League defeat when they play ENPPI on Wednesday. Al-Zamalek will host Talae El-Gaish Talaea Al Geish on Sunday.
Qena won 2-0 against Minya on Tuesday moving them to 5th in Group 2, leaving Minya bottom of the same group with 8 points. Telephonat Beni Suef recorded a 1-0 victory against Haras Al-Hodood on Tuesday in their effort to move away from the bottom of the table.
Dakhlia lost 1-0 at home to Misr Makasa in the Group 1 mid-table clash on Tuesday. Raga'a vs Ghazl Al-Mahalla and El-Entag El-Harby vs Al-Ittihad Al-Sakandary both ended 0-0.
Smouha will look to continue their winning ways against Gouna on Wednesday having won their last four matches putting them top of Group 1 with games in hand. Petrojet will try and extend their lead at the top of Group 2 when they play Wadi Degla on Thursday.
