Published in Daily News Egypt on 08 - 09 - 2013

In an effort to bring attention to the safety of the region and encourage tourists to come to Egypt, the Cairo Opera Orchestra and Company will be performing in Hurghada. The collective concert will take place on Saturday 14 September at the Touristic Theatre in Hurghada.
"The celebration will include a diverse group of the most famous patriotic and love songs as well as selections from operas and classical musicals performed in three languages; Italian – German – English" explained Dr. Ines Abdel Dayem, Chairperson of the Cairo Opera House.
The evening will start at 8pm, and the orchestra will be conducted by Maestro Nayer Nagui. "The programme of the celebration will be in two parts, it will begin with the Egyptian National Anthem. Afterwards, the stars of the Cairo Opera Company with the Cairo Opera Orchestra, will present excerpts of classical songs and musicals, which will speak to both the Egyptian and foreign audiences. Then a selection of patriotic and love songs will be presented by the Alexandria Opera Ensemble for Music & Arab Singing, conducted by Maestro Abdul Hamid Abdul Ghaffar."
Some of the operas and musicals that will be performed include Georges Bizet's Carmen, Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and Johann Strauss's Die Fledermaus among others. The excerpts will be sung by a selection from the Cairo Opera Company: Jolie Fazy, Elhamy Amin, Dalia Farouk, Ragaa El Din Ahmed, Reda El Wakil, Eman Mostafa and Ezzat Ghanem.
The Arabic songs will include some national songs such as Sheikh Imam's Ya Masr Oomy we Sheddy el Heyl, Ya Habayeb Masr and many others. These songs will be performed by Enas Izz al-Din, Muhammad Khouly, Marwa Hamdy, Amir Refaay, Iman Abdul Ghani, Hany Amer, Rehab Motawee and Hasna Kamal.
This concert is considered a "message of peace" to the world. It also demonstrates how "art can reform what was damaged by others".
