Thousands of supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi marched to Cairo's High Court on Monday, to demand the return of the deposed president, the release of prisoners and in general protest of the "military coup". Demonstrators held copies of the Quran and carried posters of the ex-president, a number carrying the slogan "The Egyptian people say: Morsi is the president, he has legitimacy, and will return God willing." Reuters, citing reporters at the scene, estimated the size of the march as "a few thousand", and also reported that security forces made no attempt to disperse those gathered outside the High Court. Amid calls for Morsi's reinstatement, the marchers demanded that Minister of Defence General Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi step down. One demonstrator scaled the building's archway and hung several portraits of the ousted president, bearing the slogan "Yes to legitimacy". This march comes after multiple calls for "million man marches" over the weekend, which were attended by vast numbers of demonstrators, who marched from over 20 locations in Giza and Greater Cairo to the two pro-Morsi sit-ins at Rabaa Al-Adaweya and Al-Nahda Square.
