University students food poisoned yet again
Published in Daily News Egypt on 25 - 05 - 2013

Friday lunchtime at a Zagazig University turned bad after 150 students had to be rushed to Zagazig Hospital after suffering from food poisoning.
Following the sign of food poisoning symptoms a quick inspection in the dorm's kitchen and food preparation took place and found the students were poisoned by canned tuna that was free of labeling or dates.
Dozens of outraged family members along with members from the Tamarod petition campaign stood in front of the university to protest. Policemen arrived after the protest began fearing clashes between family members and the Muslim Brotherhood students.
Hazem Ibrahim, a member of the 6 April Y0uth Movement in Zagazig, said, "Members of the Muslim Brotherhood had tried and failed to lock the university gate in order to prevent people from publicising what has happened."
In April more than a hundred Al-Azhar University students suffered from food poisoning as a result of spoiled canned tuna.
Shura Council Speaker Ahmed Fahmy visited the victims in Zagazig over the weekend.
Officials said the tuna will be tested to determine what caused the food poisoning. None of the illnesses were life-threatening and all 150 students were released from the hospital on Saturday morning.
Last April, hundreds of students in Al-Azhar University suffered food poisoning in two separate incidents. An investigation launched into the incidents led to the conclusion that the reason for the poisoning was the Salmonella bacteria, according to the health ministry.
