6 April Democratic Front protests in support of political activists
Published in Daily News Egypt on 30 - 04 - 2013

The 6 April Democratic Front have held a protest outside the New Cairo Court in the Fifth Settlement, where activists are facing trial.
Media spokesperson of the movement Mostafa Al-Hagari said the gathering was held in support of two separate cases. The first was that of Hamada Al-Masry, who had been detained for over two months. Al-Masry is not a member of the political group but was arrested during a protest held in Boulak Abul Ella.
Al-Hagari said Al-Masry is being tried under allegations of transporting a bomb in a car.
“He is not the owner of that car,” Al-Hagari said.
A session in Al-Masry's trial on Tuesday was postponed because he was not present at the trial. Al-Masry is currently detained and Al-Hagari says that it is the responsibility of the Ministry of Interior to bring him to court.
In addition to Al-Masry, the protesters also gathered to show solidarity for Abdel Rahman “Mano” Mohsen and seven more activists who are accused of being members of the Black Bloc group, amongst other charges.
Al-Hagari said Mano was “kidnapped” from his home at dawn. Al-Hagari said that the protest will continue until what happened to the eight activists arrested is made known to the public.
Prosecutor General Tala'at Abdallah summoned 22 people earlier in April, but only eight of them have so far been arrested.
Al-Hagari said most of those who were arrested are 18 or 19 years old. He added that they are being held in Tora prison, a facility reserved for the country's most dangerous prisoners.
