Nader Bakkar, spokesperson of the salafist Al-Nour Party called for a political truce to turn the wheels of production once more.
Bakkar said during the truce, which could last a year, the government, presidency and political groups would carry out a legislative economic plan to resuscitate the Egyptian economy and regain the world's trust in it.
Bakkar said this meeting, called for by the Egyptian Tourism Federation, state-owned news agency MENA reported. Bakkar added that he believes in the importance of tourism for Egypt's economy and that his party does not intend to close down beach tourism, a major component of tourism in Egypt.
Heba Yassin, media spokesperson of the Popular Current, which is part of the National Salvation Front said that for real development to take place, there has to be an honest foundation. “First of all, the Constituent Assembly was flawed and then, the constitution which they chose is also flawed,” she said.
” Whether its Morsy or the rest of the people in power, they do not listen to the opposition,” she added. Yassin described the decision-making process in the country as floundering. “So on what basis will the initiative be formed?" she questioned.
Despite the constitution being passed, the political impasse in Egypt continues to drag on, taking a toll on the economic situation.
Minister of Legal Affairs of the State, Mohamed Mahsoub, spoke about the economic situation on Wednesday, during the first session of the Shura Council since the constitution was passed.
“The economic situation requires serious work from the government to avoid problems…And the government promises to provide that…” Mahsoub said. But Mahsoub added that the economic situation also needs everyone to unite, especially political groups.
