Protests near the president's house in the city of Zagazig, Sharqeya, resumed for the third day Saturday night, where clashes between police and protesters caused seven new injuries. Anti-Morsy protesters have been rallying up at the president's house since Thursday, where clashes with the police would inevitably take place. Tear gas was extensively used to disperse the protesters. All the injured were moved to the university hospital in Zagazig, where their abrasions and bruises were treated, reported state-owned Al-Ahram. The Ministry of Health's official spokesperson, Ahmed Omar, stated that security personnel made up six of those injured; the seventh being a civilian. 6 April organised a march on Saturday and protested in front of the Security Directorate, Aya Abu Zeid , 6 April (Ahmed Maher front) spokesperson in Sharqeya, said. The march was aimed at denouncing the arrests which took place Friday. “Almost 40 were arrested Friday," Abu Zeid said, “only some of them were released Saturday morning." Those released included Ahmed Noor, one 6 April activist. 6 April withdrew from the march before it approached Morsy's house in order to avoid any clashes with security, Abu Zeid said. “Nevertheless, some independent protesters resumed towards the president's house." The police used teargas on Thursday in an attempt to disperse a protest organised by the 6 April movement (Ahmed Maher front) near Morsy's house. Hazem Ibrahim, 6 April coordinator in Sharqeya, said the attempt backfired as more people joined the protest. Protesters gathered again near the president's house Friday and clashes resumed. The police blocked all side streets within the city, Ibrahim stated. Protesters across Egypt have voiced their rejection of President Mohamed Morsy's latest decisions, which have led to bloody clashes near the presidential palace on Wednesday.
