CAIRO: Presidential hopeful Hamdeen Sabahi denied claims by the supreme guide of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) Mohamed Badei, that he asked for the group's support in his election campaign. Badei said on Tuesday in a public meeting in Fayoum on the occasion of opening a new headquarters for the group that presidential candidates, Al-Ghad Party's Ayman Nour and Sabahi asked for the support of the MB in the elections. "I didn't ask Badei or any of the group's leaders to support me in the elections whether directly or subtly; I didn't speak with them about the upcoming presidential elections and didn't even meet Badei recently," Sabahi said in press statements. Sabahi, former head of Al-Karama Party under foundation, is running for the presidency as an independent candidate. "I seek dialogue with all Egyptians from all political currents to present my electoral program and my vision for the future of Egypt, but I didn't talk directly or indirectly about this issue with the MB," Sabahi said. The MB have yet to decide on the presidential candidate they will endorse.
