CAIRO: Zamalek keeper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed, a hugely popular figure among the Cairo club's faithful, has no qualms about joining Masri on loan when the transfer window reopens in January. "Masri chairman called me and expressed his interest in bringing me to the club on loan in January," Al-Sayed told FilGoal.com. "I welcomed that proposal but I'm still under contract with Zamalek, who will have the final word over whether I could leave or not." Al-Sayed is seen by many as one of the most loyal players in Zamalek's history, having opted to stay put during the team's barren spell that included a sole Egyptian Cup triumph in the last six years. His consistent displays earned him widespread praise and a regular place in Egypt's squad. The 33-year-old, who came through the youth ranks of Zamalek, was the team's undisputed number one but the sudden arrival of veteran goalie Essam Al-Hadari in the close season looked to have undermined his role. Both keepers were involved in a heated exchange when Al-Sayed started Zamalek's first Egyptian Premier League this season. Al-Hadari played the following two games to apparently prompt Al-Sayed, whose contract runs out in the summer of 2012, to consider his future. Al-Sayed also plays second-fiddle to the 37-year-old at the Egyptian national team. Masri signed Ahly goalie Amir Abdul-Hamid last January but he failed to establish himself at the Port Said-based club. "I fully respect Masri and their fans, that's why I agreed in principle to join them," Al-Sayed added.
