YOKOHAMA: Ahly coach Manuel Jose said that despite the defeat, he is proud of his players performance against Adelaide United in the Club World Cup.
The Red Devils finished the competition in sixth place, after receiving their second and last World Cup loss at the hands of Adelaide on Thursday.
Adelaide didn't deserve to win, the Portuguese said after the clash.
My players did well but were unlucky throughout the whole game.
Jose also blamed the Egyptian media for putting too much pressure on Ahly players during their World Cup participation.
I can handle the media pressure, but obviously my players can t.
They have enough experience to deal with big African games, but they still need to get used to playing at the international level.
Meanwhile, Adelaide United coach Aurelio Vidmar said he is happy his team overcame a strong and respectable team like Ahly.
The Australians beat Ahly 1-0 in the Club World Cup on Thursday, to clinch the competition s fifth spot.
Ahly are a very clever side. They have a lot of tactical and technical potential, Vidmar said after the game.
They were passing as many as 15 passes without losing the ball.
Vidmar also added that Ahly gain a lot of experience from playing in the Egyptian Premier League.
The Egyptian and the Japanese leagues are way more competitive than their Australian counterpart.
Adelaide lost 1-0 to Gamba Osaka in the World Cup second round.
