CAIRO: The Ministry of Health reported two new cases of H1N1 on Thursday, raising the total number of cases in Egypt to 71. According to Abdel Rahman Shahin, the ministry's official spokesperson, the new cases are of a 39-year-old Somali man who arrived to Cairo from London on June 30 and an eight-year-old Egyptian boy from Sharqeya, who came in contact with the other cases in the governorate. By press time, the number of recovered cases in Egypt reached 51, while the remaining 20 cases are stable and still undergoing treatment, according to Shahin. On Thursday, the West Bank detected eight new cases, raising their total number of cases to 48. No deaths were reported in any infected country in the region which include Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Algeria, Iraq, Morocco, Tunisia, Oman, Bahrain, Yemen, Jordan, the West Bank, Kuwait, Libya, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Syria is the only Arab country that did not report any cases of H1N1 since the eruption of the disease. By press time, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported 77,201 confirmed cases with the virus worldwide which includes 332 deaths.
