"Children s Encyclopedia of Scientists is donated to libraries across Cairo CAIRO: Dupont, the internationally-renowned science company, and Egypt State Information Service (SIS) have entered into a private-public sector partnership to fund the printing and gratis distribution of 4,500 copies of a children's science book which are being donated to public libraries and schools and to children around the country through the SIS national network of local media centers. The book, entitled "Children s Encyclopedia of Scientists, won the 2007 State Prize for the Simplification of Science awarded by the Academy of Science and Technology Research. The first copy of the special edition of the book, which is authored and published by the SIS, was presented to First Lady Suzanne Mubarak at Egypt's Children's Book Fair last week. "Being a leading science company, DuPont aims to improve science literacy and to contribute to the expansion of knowledge for children. We believe that healthy businesses and healthy communities go hand in hand said Amr Moniem, DuPont Egypt's Country Leader. "In our first community initiative in Egypt, we decided to reach out to children since they are considered the seeds of the future and leaders of tomorrow. DuPont's community service work in Egypt combines science and education by targeting elementary school children aged 6 through 15. Its aim is to provide a solid knowledge of science to Egypt's children, especially the underprivileged ones who are less likely to have access to this type of information. DuPont has been operating in Egypt since 2000 with the opening of its office in Maadi, and the company today has nine active business units in Cairo.
